This Massachusetts Cannabis Handler training course consists of 5 modules outlined below:

Module 1: Massachusetts Cannabis Seller Training Overview
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Correctly define terms relating to the sale or serving of cannabis and cannabis products in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Describe the benefits as well as the challenges of the legal sale of cannabis and cannabis products.
  • State the intent of Massachusetts state laws and regulations relating to cannabis sales to individuals and the legal age to purchase cannabis and cannabis products.

Module 2: Cannabis and Its Effect on the Human Body
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Discuss what cannabis is and why it is classified as a stimulant, depressant, and hallucinogen.
  • Describe how it effects the human body.
  • Describe how cannabis can impair your ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Module 3: Cannabis Sales to Minors
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Determine whether a sale of cannabis and cannabis products is legal or illegal with regards to a minor in any given situation.
  • Use observations to detect when a minor is attempting to purchase cannabis or cannabis products.
  • Correctly identify whether an ID is valid and proper for purposes of establishing age, and
  • Determine appropriate intervention techniques with regards to a minor attempting to purchase cannabis or cannabis products in a variety of situations.

Module 4: License Holders & Employees Responsibilities
After completing this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Understand the licensing process and the requirements for maintaining a license.
  • Describe labeling and packaging requirements for cannabis and cannabis products.
  • Discuss products which can and cannot be sold or given away in a licensed cannabis shop.
  • Discuss customer payment options.
  • Describe METRC systems for product tracking.
  • Discuss safety protocols for the cannabis industry

Module 5: State Laws & Regulation
When you complete this module, you will be able to do the following:

  • Discuss information regarding Massachusetts state laws and regulations regarding the sale of cannabis and cannabis products for both retail stores and medical dispensaries.
  • Describe the laws for customers regarding legal age to purchase, legal limits regarding how much cannabis can be purchased, and locations you can legally use cannabis.
  • Describe the laws concerning workplace testing.
